Memorandum submitted by The Law Society of Scotland
Thank you for your letter of 25 March 2002, addressed to Mr Mill, the Society's Chief Executive. Your letter has been passed to me as Secretary to the Company Law Committee.
The Company Law Committee is extremely interested in the Treasury Committee's inquiry. Unfortunately, I do not think that it will be possible to submit written evidence within the timescale allowed. However, once the Committee's comments have been in-gathered, I will endeavour to forward these to you within a relatively short timescale, in the hope that they may nevertheless be of use to the Treasury Committee in its deliberations. I confirm also that we would be most interested in the deliberations and any outcome of the inquiry.
I trust that this is of some assistance. If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
