Letter to Mr Keith Vaz MP
from Sir Gordon Downey
Thank you for your letter of 24 September.
As I recall it you told me you were receiving payments
from the three sourcesa calendar, broadcasting and BPRI
panel. I advised that, as with all income, this needed to be registered.
You also told me that this outside income was paid
into a company you had set up, the directors of which were members
of your family. The company was engaged in work not associated
with your role as an MP. You were neither a shareholder nor employee
of the company and you received no personal financial benefit.
By "personal benefit" I think I would have meant pay,
dividends or any payments to others which would otherwise have
fallen on you.
I hope this of some use.
