Select Committee on Delegated Powers and Regulatory Reform Twenty-Fourth Report

SUSTAINABLE ENERGY BILL

Introduction

35.  This private member's bill is mainly about the development and promotion of a sustainable energy policy.

36.  There are delegated powers to make orders at clauses 4(2), (12) and (13), 5(4) and (5) and 9(5) and (6). The powers at clause 9 are standard powers to make commencement orders. There are also powers to give directions at clause 4(3) and (4). It is our view that the delegations in each instance are appropriate and subject to an appropriate level of Parliamentary scrutiny.

Conclusion

37.  THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS BILL TO WHICH THE COMMITTEE WISHES TO DRAW THE ATTENTION OF THE HOUSE.
