     Page 7, line 18, leave out from ("authorising") to end of line 38 and insert ("payments to be made to any person from information obtained by virtue of the powers contained in subsection (2A) of section 109B.") 
     Page 7, line 39, leave out subsection (2) and insert--
 
    ("(2)  The payments referred to in subsection (1) shall be calculated so as to be equivalent to the costs reasonably incurred by the persons referred to in subsection (1) above in providing the information obtained by virtue of the powers contained in subsection (2A) of section 109B.")

     Page 18, line 20, after ("conduct") insert--
    ("(ca)  stating that he may within 30 days of the date of the written notice make representations to the Secretary of State or authority as to why he believes that the provisions of subsection (1) or (2) are not met;")
 
     Page 18, line 22, at end insert--
 
    ("(3A)  The Secretary of State or authority shall consider any representations made under paragraph (ca) of subsection (3) above and either--
    (a)  withdraw the written notice issued under subsection (3) above, or
    (b)  issue a further written notice under subsection (3) above.
    (3B)  Any notice issued under paragraph (b) of subsection (3A) above need not contain the statement referred to in paragraph (ca) of subsection (3) above.")
