        (7)  Subject to subsection (8), the duties set out in subsections (3) and (4) subsist until the former relevant child reaches the age of twenty-one.
        (8)  Regulations under subsection (5)--
      (a)  may impose a duty in prescribed circumstances only;
      (b)  shall make provision about how long a duty imposed by the regulations is to subsist (which may extend beyond the former relevant child's twenty-first birthday); and
      (c)  may provide for the duties set out in subsections (3) and (4) to subsist for so long as a duty imposed by the regulations subsists.
        (9)  Section 24B(4) applies for the purposes of assistance given by virtue of subsection (5)(b) as it applies for the purposes of assistance given under section 24B(2).
        (10)  Section 24B(5) applies in relation to a person being given assistance by virtue of subsection (5)(b) as it applies in relation to a person to whom section 24B(3) applies.
        (11)  Subsections (7) to (9) of section 17 apply in relation to assistance given by virtue of this section as they apply in relation to assistance given under that section.".")
