Select Committee on Delegated Powers and Deregulation Thirteenth Report

ANNEX A

PART-TIME WORK DISCRIMINATION: CODE OF PRACTICE

The code of practice will cover those parts of the Directive (particularly Clause 5 of the Framework Agreement) which do not directly impose obligations on employers, but rather aim to encourage more and better quality part-time jobs. A code of practice is the best way of including these provisions in the UK's implementing legislation without imposing more onerous obligations than the Directive intended. The Government intends to consult on the code along with the draft regulations. A draft code will be laid before each House of Parliament.
