17.Sudan—The Lord McNair asked Her Majesty’s Government whether they will reconsider their support for the American cruise missile attack on the al-Shifa pharmaceutical factory in the light of subsequent scientific and technical reports on the matter; after debate, the question was answered by the Baroness Scotland of Asthal.
18.Welfare Reform and Pensions Bill—The bill was further considered on report; amendments were moved and (by leave of the House) withdrawn; amendments were agreed to; amendments were agreed to (see division lists 5 and 6); it was ordered that the bill be printed as amended. (HL Bill 93)

The Committee met at half-past three o’clock.

The Principal Deputy Chairman of Committees (Lord Tordoff) was in the Chair.

Amendments were moved and (by leave of the Committee) withdrawn; amendments were agreed to; the Committee was adjourned after clause 32 stood part.

The Committee was adjourned at twelve minutes past nine o’clock until tomorrow at half-past four.

And for Us Our heirs and successors do appoint give and grant unto him the said name state degree style dignity title and honour of Baron Filkin to have and to hold unto him for his life
