THE LORD MORAN
 
     Page 1, line 6, at end insert--
 
    ("(2) But subsection (1) does not apply to any person who, on the day on which this Act is passed, is a member of the House of Lords by virtue of a hereditary peerage, who shall retain the right to speak, but not to vote, in that House for the remainder of their lives.")
 
  
After Clause 2
 
  
BY THE LORD COBBOLD
 
     Insert the following new Clause-- 
     (". Nothing in this Act prevents the holder of an hereditary peerage from being a member of the House of Lords other than solely by virtue of that hereditary peerage.")Membership of House of Lords.
  
After Clause 3
 
  
BY THE EARL OF PERTH
 
     Insert the following new Clause-- 
     (". Nothing in this Act affects the powers of the House of Lords, and in particular the power to veto any bill introduced by a Minister of the Crown providing for the maximum duration of Parliament to be extended beyond 5 years.")Declaratory (No. 2)
