  Consolidation Bills—A message was brought from the Commons that they have appointed a Committee of twelve members to join with a Committee of the Lords as the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.

14th March 2002

  Consolidation Bills—It was moved by the Lord Chancellor that, pursuant to Standing Order 51, the following Lords be appointed to join with a Committee of the Commons as the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills:

    L. Acton
    L. Brightman
    L. Campbell of Alloway
    L. Christopher
    V. Colville of Culross
    E. DundeeB. Fookes
    L. Hobhouse of Woodborough
    L. Janner of Braunstone
    B. Mallalieu
    L. Phillips of Sudbury
    L. Razzall;

  That the Committee have the power to agree with the Committee of the Commons in the appointment of a Chairman;

  That the minutes of evidence taken before the Committee from time to time be printed and, if the Committee think fit, be delivered out; and

  That a message be sent to the Commons to propose that the Joint Committee do meet on Tuesday 30th April at half-past four o'clock;

  the motion was agreed to.

  Consolidation Bills—A message was brought from the Commons that they have ordered that the Committee appointed by them on Consolidation Bills do meet with the Committee appointed by this House on Tuesday 30th April at half-past four o'clock as proposed by this House.

  Consolidation, &c., Bills—Ordered, That Mr Russell Brown, Mr John Burnett, David Cairns, Mr Martin Caton, Mr Colin Challen, Sir Patrick Cormack, Jim Dobbin, Paul Farrelly, Mr Barry Gardiner, Mr John MacDougall, Mr Nicholas Soames and Mr Anthony Steen be members of the Select Committee appointed to join with a Committee of the Lords as the Joint Committee on Consolidation, &c., Bills—(Mr Graham Stringer.)

  Message to the Lords to acquaint them therewith.

  Message from the Lords,—A Message was brought from the Lords, as follows:

  Consolidation Bills,—The Lords communicate that they have appointed a Committee of twelve Lords to join with a Committee of the Commons as the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills; that they have ordered that the Committee have the power to agree with the Committee of the Commons in the appointment of a Chairman, and that the Minutes of Evidence taken before the Committee from time to time be printed and, if the Committee think fit, be delivered out; and they propose that the Joint Committee do meet on Tuesday 30th April at half-past Four o'clock.

  Consolidation, &c., Bills,—Ordered, That the Lords Message of 14th March relating to the Joint Committee on Consolidation, &c., Bills be now considered.

  Lords Message considered accordingly.

  Ordered, That the Committee appointed by this House do meet the Lords Committee as proposed by their Lordships.
