Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments Sixth Report

APPENDIX 2

Memorandum by the Lord Chancellor's Department

CHILDREN AND FAMILY COURT ADVISORY AND SUPPORT SERVICE (MEMBERSHIP, COMMITTEE AND PROCEDURE) REGULATIONS 2000 (S.I. 2000/3374)

1. The Lord Chancellor's Department submits this memorandum in response to the request dated 24 January 2001 on the following point:

Paragraph (7) of regulation 10 requires minutes of the proceedings of a meeting to be signed by the chairman at the following meeting. Should not "chairman" have read "member presiding" given that, in absence of the chairman, the meeting is to be presided over by the deputy chairman or the member elected to preside (paragraph (6)(b) and (c))?

2. It is accepted that "chairman" should have read "member presiding" and steps are being taken to make this amendment.

26 January 2001
