Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments Thirty-First Report

APPENDIX IV

Memorandum by HM Treasury

BUILDING SOCIETIES (GENERAL CHARGE AND FEES) REGULATIONS 1998

(S.I. 1998/675)

The Committee requested a memorandum to explain why Schedule 2 did not set out, against each fee figure, the amount of the previous fee in accordance with Statutory Instrument Practice, paragraph 2.77.

2.  It is very much regretted that due to an oversight these figures were not included with the documentation sent to the Committee. The attached table sets out the comparative figures for Schedule 2 and for the other fees and charges included in the Regulations.

3.  The Treasury very much regrets this mistake and apologises for it. Steps are being taken to ensure it is not repeated.
