7 Conclusion
118. The UK has a strong record
in upholding human rights across the world, and the FCO's 2011
Report on Human Rights and Democracy provides ample evidence of
its work in promoting higher standards of human rights abroad,
sometimes under difficult circumstances. That work is widely recognised
within the sector, and we applaud it. We hope that the constructive
criticism in this Report will enable the FCO and indeed the Government,
collectively, to improve upon that performance.
