Annex: Key terms used in the report
Accommodation costs: includes,
where applicable, rent, utilities, facilities management and other
operating costs (such as reprographics, telephones and archiving)
or the PFI unitary charge.
Dilapidations: a building
lease will typically include a clause which states the repairs
or work that the tenant should carry out at the end of a tenancy.
These are referred to as dilapidation payments.
Flexible working practices: includes
practices such as job sharing, hot-desking and home working
Occupation density: a
measure of the allocation of building space per person
Space efficiency: a measure
of how efficiently a building is utilised. Space efficiency can
be improved when buildings are not being utilised efficiently
