Select Committee on Treasury Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 3

Memorandum submitted by HM Treasury

Thank you for your letter of 19 July requesting information for the report which the Treasury Committee hopes to agree tomorrow on Departmental Reports. The information is set out below.

2000-01 Resource Accounts

The following table shows the latest position for laid and published 2000-01 resource accounts. Our understanding is that there are three sets of accounts yet to be published. I should also add that in a small number of cases we know that the accounts have been published, but we do not yet know the date of the publication.

We were aware of the concern in the House of Commons about delays between the laying of accounts and their publication and we have advised departments accordingly. The Treasury is of course, happy to remind departments again of the importance of prompt publication for the 2001-02 exercise.

The reason for the minor discrepancy between the table and the narrative in the written answer to Barry Sheerman on 30 April 2002 was that the table included the publication date of the Food Standards Agency's Annual Report and Accounts (HC 488), whereas unfortunately the narrative did not.
