Select Committee on Standards and Privileges Fifth Report

Annex ii6

Letter to Ms Eileen Eggington QPM from the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards

Thank you for coming to see me, for your e-mail of 15th February and for your telephone conversation with me.

As I have explained, unless I have a signed complaint from someone with evidence that a Member of Parliament has failed to uphold the Code of Conduct or Rules for Members of Parliament, I am unable to take matters further.

We discussed the information concerning acquisition of passports for members of the Hinduja family and I wondered if Mrs Gresty would like that information to be passed to the Hammond enquiry.

If she does wish that information to be provided to that inquiry, the address is as follows:

    Sir Anthony Hammond QC

    * * *

If at any time Mrs Gresty or her husband wish to make a complaint to me, perhaps they would contact me, however I must stress that names of complainants are made public if I decide to investigate any complaint.

I hope you had a good holiday.
