The Comptroller and Auditor General's Report on Better Regulation: Making Good Use of Regulatory Impact Assessments (HC 329) was considered.

Mavis McDonald, CB, Permanent Secretary, Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Cabinet Office; and Mr David Andrews, Director for Regulatory Action, Small Business Service, were examined (HC 408-i).

Paragraphs 6 to 45 read and agreed to.

Postponed paragraph 5 read and agreed to.

Resolved, That the Report be the Twenty-sixth Report of the Committee to the House.

Ordered, That the Chairman do make the Report to the House.

Ordered, That the provisions of Standing Order No. 134 (Select Committees (Reports)) be applied to the Report.
