Select Committee on Procedure Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 18

Letter from Mr Richard Ottaway MP to the Chairman of the Committee

I attach herewith a copy of a question I tabled to the Prime Minister and a copy of his reply.

In my opinion I have not received an answer to my question. He has completely ducked the point that I have raised and I am advised by the Table Office that I have no remedy whatsoever.

The purpose of this letter is to suggest that the Procedure Committee looks at the question of non-answering of questions. When I think of the extent to which we used to agonise over answers to written questions I find the whole thing rather galling. I would be interested in any views you might have on the matter.
