The Committee deliberated.

Internal Security and International Protection Commitments: The Lord Filkin CBE, a Member of the House of Lords, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Race Equality, Community Policy and European and International Policy, Aleck Thompson, Deputy Director of Asylum Appeals Policy Directorate, and Harry Carter, Assistant Legal Adviser, Home Office, were examined.

Draft Report, proposed by the Chairman, brought up and read.

Ordered, That the draft Report be read a second time, paragraph by paragraph.

Paragraphs 1.1 to 19 read and agreed to.

Resolved, That the Report be the Thirty-fifth Report of the Committee to the House.

Ordered, That the Chairman do make the Report to the House.

Ordered, That the Chairman and the Clerk do visit Brussels on 8 and 9 July to attend the meeting of the European Parliament's Committee on Constitutional Affairs in a representative capacity.— (The Chairman.)
