FLOOD DEFENCE RESPONSIBILITIES IN ENGLAND


Notes:

1 The National Assembly for Wales has policy responsibility in the Principality but operational responsibilities are the same.

2 Local authorities are also responsible for:

  • emergency planning including the response to flooding (in conjunction with the Environment Agency and emergency services);

  • development control, consulting the Environment Agency on flood risk matters;

  • coast protection measures (ie action against coastal erosion).
