Select Committee on Treasury Minutes of Evidence

Examination of Witnesses (Questions 660 - 661)

THURSDAY 14 DECEMBER 2000

SIR ANDREW TURNBULL, PROFESSOR ANDREW LIKIERMAN, MR ROBERT CULPIN, MR JOHN GIEVE AND MS HILARY DOUGLAS

  660. Is there any mileage in going further and publishing another guide that sets out the relationship between the Treasury and the spending departments?
(Mr Gieve) I do not think so actually. The description of the Treasury role is in effect a description of its role in relation to other departments.

Chairman

  661. Thank you very much indeed. There are one or two things we want to follow up and we will do so in writing if we may. Thank you very much indeed.
(Sir Andrew Turnbull) I am glad you have made it through the flood plains of Worcestershire.

  Chairman: Thank you.
