Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from Mr John Maxton MP
I have received your most recent letter. As I said
earlier I would consider my future actions once I had received
the evidence you are going to provide to me.
However I note with ever growing concern your continuing
failure to provide me with the evidence Dean Nelson gave you before
you pronounced very publicly that you were starting an inquiry.
I am asking you once more to let me have that evidence
by return before I decide what further action I intend taking.
If as I suspect you had nothing but Dean Nelson`s letter and perhaps
a phone conversation with him which obviously is not evidence
then I think you should now tell me that was the case.
In the 9th Report of the Committee it states:"Any
Member who wishes to make comments or suggestions on it should
put them to the Commissioner." I have prepared a Memorandum
in response to that Report and I am sending it to you as requested.
I would be grateful if you could ensure that members of the Committee
receive a copy of it for their information.
