Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from the Rt Hon Dr John Reid MP
I have been reviewing the documents you sent me concerning
the complaint by Mr Nelson.
The documents from Mr Nelson and Mr McKinney make
insulting and offensive remarks about me. Others are said to raise
questions about the propriety of my actings. I can understand
why you have sent the documents to me, however I also have information
from you concerning John Maxton MP and Chris Winslow. I am very
concerned that you have disseminated the documents concerning
me to others including Mr Maxton.
It is unpleasant enough to have to deal with this
complaint without currency being given to it by others. Will you
assure me that the documents referring to me in offensive terms
and attacking my reputation have been restricted to your office
and to me? If this is not the case please inform me to whom the
documents have been passed and for what reason.
