Select Committee on Standards and Privileges Second Report

Annex 104

Letter to Mr Chris Winslow from the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards

Thank you for discussing my request with me on the telephone yesterday.

As I explained, the House of Commons has conferred upon the Select Committee by Standing Order the power to send for persons, papers and records, and that the Committee reserves the right to use those powers in furtherance of its own inquiries or the Commissioner`s if it should prove necessary to do so.

I would be grateful if you would come to see me so that I can clarify matters of detail to ensure that I provide the Select Committee with a complete and accurate account of the events in question. May I invite you to see me on April 3rd, 4th or 7th. Perhaps you would telephone my office to arrange a convenient time on one of those days.
