Select Committee on Northern Ireland Affairs Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

Letter from the Northern Ireland Office to the Clerk of the Committee

Thank you for your letter of 10 April about the NIO's audited Resource Accounts for 1999-2000 (Cm. 5058).

As you know, the NIO was granted a dispensation by the Treasury to present the Account on 31 March instead of the normal 31 January. The Treasury laid the Account on 30 March in typescript and sent two copies to the Vote Office. Thus the parliamentary requirements were fulfilled—if only to a minimum degree. We are allowed[1] 30 days to prepare the full printed version of the Account and I can assure you that this is currently being proof-read and will be available in a week or so.

20 April 2001

1   The Northern Ireland Office subsequently reported that this was a Treasury decision. Back
