Select Committee on Defence First Special Report

APPENDIX 6

Memorandum from the Ministry of Defence concerning numbers of aircraft accidents during 1999 (24 January 2000)

I recently advised you that work was in hand to provide a list of aircraft accidents during 1999 and I am happy to be able to provide this now. Much of the information is already in the public domain following a PQ answer to Robert Key MP earlier this month.

Future accidents will be notified to the Committee on a quarterly basis and, at the same time, I will confirm which Military Aircraft Accident Summaries (MAAS) have been placed in the Library of the House. None of the MASSs for accidents on the attached list have been finalised.
