We are delighted that a number of the ATBs (Area Tourist Boards) have made further applications to the European funding programmes in order to lever an additional £4 for every £6 of the STB foot and mouth allocation they invest in marketing. A number of medium sized ATB member businesses are also choosing to waive their membership refund and channel the money into extra ATB marketing—showing a real endorsement of their ATB marketing efforts. We are co-ordinating the marketing activity centrally through a Marketing Policy Group to avoid duplication, and recommend where added value through joint marketing might be made. ATBs are also required to submit evaluation forms on a fortnightly basis so that we can track how funds are being spent and monitor, wherever possible, the impact this extra marketing spend has made.
