  1. Incidents with no reactors at the start of the incident are:

    —  those with reactors recorded on VetNet as detected but not taken until a subsequent short interval test; or

    —  incidents resulting from slaughterhouse cases.

  2. Numbers in these columns differ from those published on the MAFF website because of the analysis conducted by the Veterinary Laboratories Agency after extraction from VetNet.

  3. For comparison, the total number of cattle herds in GB in 1999 as recorded on VetNet was 110,821 (112,558 in 1998).

  4. Numbers in these rows represent the percentage of total confirmed new incidents.

  5. Percentage change in number of reactors per incident.

  These are not official statistics.
