The House met at half-past Nine o'clock.

1    The Speaker's Absence,—The House being met, and the Speaker having leave of absence pursuant to paragraph (3) of Standing Order No. 3 (Deputy Speaker), Sir Alan Haselhurst, the Chairman of Ways and Means, proceeded to the Table.

    PRAYERS.

2    The Chairman of Ways and Means took the Chair as Deputy Speaker, pursuant to the Standing Order.

3    Motion to sit in private,—Mr Eric Forth moved, That the House do sit in private.

    The Deputy Speaker put the Question forthwith, pursuant to Standing Order No. 163 (Motions to sit in private).

    The House divided.

      Tellers for the Ayes, Mr Eric Forth, Mr Nigel Evans: 0.

      Tellers for the Noes, Mr Nick Ainger, Laura Moffatt: 14.

    And it appearing on the report of the Division that fewer than forty Members had taken part in the Division, the Deputy Speaker declared that the Question was not decided.

4    Drugs (Sentencing and Commission of Inquiry) Bill,—The Order of the day being read, for the Second Reading of the Drugs (Sentencing and Commission of Inquiry) Bill;

    And a Motion being made, and the Question being put, That the Bill be now read a second time;

    The House divided.

      Tellers for the Ayes, Mr Eric Forth, Mr John Randall: 13.

      Tellers for the Noes, Paul Clark, Laura Moffatt: 11.

    And it appearing on the report of the Division that fewer than forty Members had taken part in the Division, the Deputy Speaker declared that the Question was not decided, and the business under consideration stood over until the next sitting of the House.

5    School Meals and Nutrition Bill,—The Order of the day being read, for the Second Reading of the School Meals and Nutrition Bill;

    And a Motion being made, and the Question being put, That the Bill be now read a second time;

    The House divided.

      Tellers for the Ayes, Geraint Davies, Mr Paul Marsden: 6.

      Tellers for the Noes, Paul Clark, Mr Nick Ainger: 9.

    And it appearing on the report of the Division that fewer than forty Members had taken part in the Division, the Deputy Speaker declared that the Question was not decided, and the business under consideration stood over until the next sitting of the House.

6    Right of Reply and Press Standards Bill,—The Order of the day being read, for the Second Reading of the Right of Reply and Press Standards Bill;

    And a Motion being made, and the Question being put, That the Bill be now read a second time;

    The House divided.

      Tellers for the Ayes, Mr Paul Marsden, Peter Bradley: 6.

      Tellers for the Noes, Paul Clark, Gregory Barker: 12.

    And it appearing on the report of the Division that fewer than forty Members had taken part in the Division, the Deputy Speaker declared that the Question was not decided, and the business under consideration stood over until the next sitting of the House.

7    Adjournment,—Resolved, That this House do now adjourn.—(Paul Clark.)

    And accordingly, the House, having continued to sit till three minutes to Three o'clock, adjourned till Monday 28th February.
