The House met at half-past Nine o'clock.

PRAYERS.

1    Municipal Waste Recycling Bill,-The Municipal Waste Recycling Bill was, according to Order, read a second time and stood committed to a Standing Committee.

2    Legal Deposit Libraries Bill,-The Legal Deposit Libraries Bill was, according to Order, read a second time and stood committed to a Standing Committee.

3    Government Powers (Limitations) Bill,-The Order of the day being read, for the Second Reading of the Government Powers (Limitations) Bill;

    The Solicitor General acquainted the House, That she had it in Command from the Queen to acquaint the House that Her Majesty, having been informed of the purport of the Bill, had consented to place Her prerogative, so far as it is affected by the Bill, at the disposal of Parliament for the purposes of the Bill.

    And a Motion being made, That the Bill be now read a second time;

    Mr Andrew Dismore moved, That the House sit in private.

    The Deputy Speaker put the Question forthwith, pursuant to Standing Order No. 163 (Motions to sit in private).

    The House divided.

      Tellers for the Ayes, Mr Andrew Dismore, Ann Keen: 0.

      Tellers for the Noes, Mr John Heppell, Dr Phyllis Starkey: 19.

    And it appearing from the report of the Division that fewer than forty Members had taken part in the Division, the Deputy Speaker declared that the Question was not decided, and the business under consideration stood over until the next sitting of the House.

4    Sex Discrimination in Private Clubs Bill,-The Order of the day being read, for the Second Reading of the Sex Discrimination in Private Clubs Bill;

    Ordered, That the Bill be read a second time on Friday 4th April.

5    Food Labelling Bill,-The Order of the day being read, for resuming the adjourned Debate on the Question proposed on 7th March, That the Food Labelling Bill be now read a second time;

    Ordered, That the Debate be resumed on Friday 11th July.

6    Crown Employment (Nationality) Bill,-The Order of the day being read, for the Second Reading of the Crown Employment (Nationality) Bill;

    Ordered, That the Bill be read a second time on Friday 21st March.

7    Adjournment,-A Motion was made, and the Question being proposed, That this House do now adjourn-(Mr John Heppell);

    And the Motion having been made after half-past Two o'clock, and the Debate having continued for half an hour, the Deputy Speaker adjourned the House without Question put, pursuant to the Standing Order, it being then one minute past Three o'clock, till Monday 17th March.
