PRAYERS.
1Message from the Lords,—A Message was brought from the Lords as follows:
 
        The Lords have agreed to the Amendments made by this House to the London Local Authorities Bill [Lords], without Amendment.
 
        Life Peerages (Appointments Commission) Bill [Lords],—The Lords have passed a Bill to establish a Commission to make proposals for the conferment of life peerages under the Life Peerages Act 1958; to which the Lords desire the concurrence of this House.
2Public Petition,—A Public Petition from residents of Laindon and Basildon for a duty on owners of shopping centres to provide for adequate cleaning, maintenance and security was presented and read; and ordered to lie upon the Table and to be printed.
3Adjournment (Report of the Committee of Inquiry into Hunting with Dogs in England and Wales (Cm. 4763)),—A Motion was made, and the Question being proposed, That this House do now adjourn—(Mr Robert Ainsworth);
 
        And it being half-past Two o'clock, the Motion for the adjournment of the House lapsed, without Question put.
4Broadcasting,—Ordered, That, for the purpose of its approval, the Amendment (Cm. 4797), dated 3rd July 2000, to the Agreement (Cm. 3152), dated 25th January 1996, between the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and the British Broadcasting Corporation shall be treated as if it were an instrument subject to the provisions of Standing Order No. 118 (Standing Committees on Delegated Legislation).—(Jim Dowd.)
